Triathlon magazine Germany reviewed 16 aero wheels between € 899,- and € 5.220,- in their August issue. Here is a summary of the test result of ZEAL’s CAMERIG44, the lightest wheel set in the comparison.

“ZEAL is relatively new on the market and apparently, it has its roots in road cycling. Also, the name CAMERIG (one of the nasty short climbs of the Amstel Gold Race) is referring to that fact. The aero concept of ZEAL with a 44 mm deep, box-shaped thus Kamm-Tail profiled rim is also new. This edgy shape should guarantee higher stiffness, lower weight, higher stability in crosswind conditions and more comfort. Part of the “Ready-to-Ride” idea is that the 25,1 mm wide tubeless ready rim is not only optimized for 25 mm tires, but also delivered with a mounted set of tires. Regarding weight and stiffness the laboratory provides clarification: In that respect, the above-mentioned targets were reached. High comfort and low wind susceptibility could be validated partially. The CAMERIG feel very direct and agile and remained well controllable in constant wind conditions. Strong wind gusts and changes of the wind direction ask for some experience. The brake performance was convincing. The maximum system weight for the rim brake variant is 110 kilograms.

SUMMARY:

Innovative set, of which the road cycling roots are noticeable. It will fit well in a triathlon bike, but its benefits will be even better exploited in a road bike”
